Our kittens are on a quality high-protein cat food appropriate for their age and breed. Orientals do best on a complete, balanced diet — we'll let you know exactly what your kitten is eating and provide feeding guidance to keep their nutrition consistent during the transition. Generally yes. Well-socialized Oriental Shorthairs get along beautifully with older children and many enjoy the company of cat-friendly dogs. They're sensitive, however, so introductions should be slow and respectful. They thrive on attention and often don't do well as an only cat in homes where they'll be alone all day.

No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but Oriental Shorthairs produce less of the Fel d1 protein that triggers most cat allergies, so they're often a better choice for mild allergy sufferers. We recommend spending time with the breed before committing if allergies are a concern.
