Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Oriental Shorthairs, our cattery, reservations, and delivery.

? What is an Oriental Shorthair?
Oriental Shorthairs are part of the Siamese breed group — long, lean, athletic cats with almond-shaped eyes and tall, expressive ears. They come in over 300 color and pattern combinations, earning them the nickname "Ornamentals" or "Rainbow Cats." They're intelligent, deeply affectionate, and famously vocal, often forming very close bonds with their families.
? Are the kittens vaccinated?
Yes. Every kitten is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming. Each kitten goes home with a vaccination record and health documentation so you know exactly what care has been provided.
? Do you offer delivery?
Yes — we deliver worldwide. We work with trusted and experienced pet transportation partners to safely deliver kittens directly to your location, with delivery updates throughout the process. Read more on our Delivery Information page.
? How do reservations work?
Start by completing our Kitten Application and selecting the kitten you're interested in. We personally review each application and reach out to answer your questions. Reservations are confirmed once payment arrangements are completed and documentation is finalized.
? Can I receive updated photos and videos?
Absolutely. We're happy to share updated photos and videos of your chosen kitten so you can watch them grow before they arrive. Keeping families connected during the wait is part of how we work.
? What do the kittens eat?
Our kittens are on a quality high-protein cat food appropriate for their age and breed. Orientals do best on a complete, balanced diet — we'll let you know exactly what your kitten is eating and provide feeding guidance to keep their nutrition consistent during the transition. (Add your specific brand here for the live site.)
? Are Oriental Shorthairs good with kids and other pets?
Generally yes. Well-socialized Oriental Shorthairs get along beautifully with older children and many enjoy the company of cat-friendly dogs. They're sensitive, however, so introductions should be slow and respectful. They thrive on attention and often don't do well as an only cat in homes where they'll be alone all day.
? Are Oriental Shorthairs hypoallergenic?
No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but Oriental Shorthairs produce less of the Fel d1 protein that triggers most cat allergies, so they're often a better choice for mild allergy sufferers. We recommend spending time with the breed before committing if allergies are a concern.
? Why are Oriental Shorthairs so vocal?
It's a defining trait of the breed! Like their Siamese cousins, Orientals are talkative — sometimes nicknamed "honking cats" for their distinctive vocalizations. They use sounds to greet you, ask for attention, and stay connected. If you love a cat that "talks" back, you'll adore this breed.
? Do you provide a health guarantee?
Yes. Each kitten comes with health documentation and a written health guarantee at the time of reservation. See our Health Guarantee page for the overview.
